I'm Bored and I can't stand the wait!

No one is posting anything today! I know, I need to get a life other than waiting, but its so hard. I want to totally immerse myself in the wait. I want to spend all my time either playing with my kids or doing something that brings me closer to Amanda. Ugh!

Yesterday we had a record high temperature - 81. We played outside for awhile after work. Then after supper, we went for a walk. Walked up to the little strip mall a few blocks from our house. You'd think the girls would be tired, but no, they had all sorts of energy. It's supposed to rain starting tonight and for the rest of the week.

I've actually got some time on my hands now that the dance show is done, girl scout cookie season is over, and our mandatory extra hours at work is done. Since Jessica was sick one day last week, I caught up on all my quilt squares. I've put almost all the wishes into scrapbooks. I sent out my postcards. I've already picked out my Secret Pal gift for my GWCA-Nov2006 pal for April. I do have to get a cybershower present for someone, but I have until the middle of April. I think I'll do that on Saturday. I've proposed a Flat Ladybug project for one list and have a database set up for a ribbon exchange for Tag Blankets on another. I'm going to be a basket case by the time Amanda's referral actually comes. My well of ideas may also run dry long before then. So if anyone reading this has any project ideas for the wait, leave them in the comments section or email me please.

4 MONTHS!

My dossier has been logged in 4 months today. It doesn't really seem that long, but there's so much longer to go. When I was waiting for Jessica, my DTC/LID dates were only 3 days apart and I received her referral only 7 months (and a few days) after LID. I still think I won't hear anything until late next year. But it does feel really good to have 4 months down. And to think my dossier was sent to China (DTC) almost 5 months ago.

On the other hand, if the wait doesn't get any longer, then I'm only a year away from referral. So far, the wait has only gotten longer with each passing month. I don't think we'll know until this fall whether there will be a speed up after getting through some big months (according to rumors).

Some Dance Photos

My life has been consumed with Jessica's dance stuff for the last few weekends. The family shows were last Sunday and the school shows were Monday. The tech run-throughs were Saturday. Then we had to be at the auditorium by 9 a.m. Sunday for a dress rehearsal in the morning, followed by 2 afternoon shows. Monday we had to be at the theater by 8 a.m. since the school shows were at 9:15, 11:15 and 1:00. Jessica's whole 2nd grade class was able to come to the 1 p.m. show. Afterward she went out to see her class. It was so much fun watching her beam in front of her class. She said she felt like a rock star! I got all teary-eyed just watching her face. I'm so glad all the hustle and bustle of the show is over. It seems to be much harder on the parents than the kids as the kids have so much energy! But I've been dragging all week. It'll be nice to have a more normal weekend.

I plan to try to get all my postcards written out for the postcard exchange I signed up for. I also bought a memory book and some background paper for Amanda's quilt squares. I decided to work on just one at a time for now anyway.

March Secret Pal Gift!

My secret pal from my GWCA November DTC/LID list sent me a set of 6 placemats with chopsticks. I've always wanted to get these. Thanks Secret Pal!

Who Are Those Girls?!

We decided to go out to eat last night and they had a clown doing face painting. Jessica thought she looked "mysterious" and Anna was just excited.

Yesterday I started Penny on insulin shots. Yes, another dog who's diabetic. I lost Dixie last August after giving her shots for 4 1/2 years. They were related so I wonder if diabetes is hereditary. Hopefully she'll start to feel better soon and start putting some weight back on. She's almost 14, but I can't not give her the shots especially since I know how.

The Stork Landed Yesterday For Some

The stork has landed at Great Wall and many other agencies! They received referrals for those whose dossiers were logged in through October 24, 2005. My log-in date is November 22, 2006. So I'm still looking at a 2+ year wait from now at this rate. Of course last month was Chinese New Year and offices close down for a week or two, so I'll just have to wait and see what the coming months bring and whether CCAA starts catching up a bit. Otherwise, I'm looking at a Spring, 2009 referral!! Ugh!

The ticker I have at the bottom of this blog for time to referral assumes I'll get my referral on my birthday in December, 2008.

Snow Day!

They closed my office just before 3:00 yesterday and now today as well. And the girl's school is closed too. We got 12"-17" yesterday (on top of last weekend's snow) and another 1"-2" is expected today. March is definitely coming in like a lion. But we're used to snow here. I really feel for the people in the south getting the tornados. I snapped a couple of pictures when I let Lucy outside. She wasn't sure what to think of all of that stuff! Penny just refused to go outside.

I'm sure glad I have a snow removal service. They haven't come yet though. But last night was one of the few nights we had no plans. We do have language class tonight, but I expect it to be cancelled. I hope to clean and at least start my taxes today. We have lots of dance stuff this weekend, so I hope they come and plow and shovel sometime before the sun goes down.

While I was trying to catch up on laundry and cooking supper, my girls were feeling creative. Anna found a box and some tissue paper and decided to make a princess. Jessie was dreaming of spring and "drew" a picture on the computer.
